The Ones I Missed Yesterday
The rest of the iris have come out over night
One tiny little water lily.
The foxgloves are a present from the birds in payment for all the fat balls and the meal worms.
A present from a friend. (human kind)
Day Lily's are very tough, they survive the wood pigeon land on them. Those poor birds are so stupid it is a miracle they manage to survive at all.

On The Menu
Had a flying visit to the allotment this morning to check on the sweetcorn I planted out last week. A lot of my plants are vanishing. I was talking to another plot holder and he is convinced that rats are doing the damage. Not too keen on rats. It can be very disheartening to go to the trouble of grow things from seed bring them on to decent plants to see them vanish days after you plant them out. I did bring home dinner today, some nice baby carrots, spinach and rhubarb.

Bull Finch
I spent the morning on my allotment. I am working on the paths. I got weed membrane in the pound shop so I have been cutting back the weeds, covering the ground with membrane and covering it over with bark chippings. I was helped by a bull finch who took a fancy to my car. He spent all his time looking at himself in the wing mirror and the glass. I was sitting in the car taking his picture and he wasn't bothered that I was so close. It is on days like this I am glad to be a gardener.
